普通形（ふつうけい）and 「〜と思います」
You and your friends are watching a sports game.
Team A and team B are one against one and are very competitive.
You want to ask your friend to predict which team will win.
In such a case, let's ask them like this.
AチームとBチーム、どちらのチームが勝つと思いますか。
( Aチームと Bチーム、どちらのチームが かつと おもいますか。）
Which team do you think will win, Team A or Team B?
👉<Use>
"〜と思います（とおもいます）" is used to express a prediction, a guess, or an opinion.
"AチームとBチームと、どちらのチームが勝つと思いますか。" means "Which team do you think will win, Team A or Team B?"
👉<Form>
The conjugation adds "とおもいます" to the plain form.
Aチームが勝つと思います。
勝ちます→勝つ
勝ちます→勝つ
👉<普通形（ふつうけい）と丁寧形（ていねいけい）>
The form of words without "です" or "ます" is called “普通形 (ふつうけい) , plain form”.
The form of words with "です" or "ます" is called “丁寧形 (ていねいけい), polite form ”.

Let's look at how to make the plain forms of each part of speech.
☆動詞 Verb☆
〜ます→じしょ形と同じ（same as dictionary form）
e.g.飲みます→飲む
食べます→食べる
します→する
〜ません→ない形と同じ（same as ないform）
e.g.飲みません→飲まない
食べません→食べない
しません→しない
〜ました→た形と同じ（same as たform）
e.g.飲みました→飲んだ
食べました→食べた
しました→した
〜ませんでした→ない形＋なかった（ないform＋かなった）
e.g.飲みませんでした→飲まなかった
食べませんでした→食べなかった
しませんでした→しなかった
All take "です" from 丁寧形(ていねいけい, the polite form.）
e.g. あついです→あつい
さむくないです→さむくない
おおきかったです→おおきかった
やすくなかったです→やすくなかった
☆名詞／な形容詞 Noun／なadjective☆
～です→～だ
e.g. ひまです→ひまだ
あめです→あめだ
～じゃありません→～じゃない
e.g. ひまじゃありません→ひまじゃない
あめじゃありません→あめじゃない
～でした→～だった
e.g. ひまでした→ひまだった
あめでした→あめだった
～じゃありませんでした→～じゃなかった
e.g. ひまじゃありませんでした
→ひまじゃなかった

☆Prediction or guess☆
1. 明日は晴れると思います。
I think it will be sunny tomorrow.
2. 来週は暑くなると思います。
I think it will be hot next week.
3. あれは鳥だと思います。
I think that is a bird.
4. 木村さんは先週かぜをひきましたから、まだ元気じゃないと思います。
Mr. Kimura caught a cold last week, so I don't think he is well yet.
5. 鈴木さんはとても忙しいですから、今日のパーティーに来ないと思います。
Ms. Suzuki is very busy, so I don't think she will come to today's party.
☆Opinion☆
6. あの店のラーメンはおいしいと思います。
I think the ramen at that restaurant is delicious.
7. この本は面白くないと思います。
I don't think this book is interesting.
8. 東京はとてもにぎやかなところだと思います。
I think Tokyo is a very lively place.
9. スマートフォンはいろいろなことがてまきますから、便利だと思います。
I think smartphones are convenient because they can do so many things.
10. 山田さんのアドバイスはあまり役に立たないと思います。
I don't think Mr. Yamada's advice is very useful.
