Elementary grammar N5

In this lesson, you will learn how to use the Japanese grammar ~く/になります (ku/ ni narimasu).

You are talking with a friend about the future.
Your friend wants to work in a company.
What should you say in Japanese if you want to become a teacher?

In such a case, you should say to your friend like this " (わたしは きょうしに なりたい)。"

Today let's learn about "〜く/に なります".


👉<Use>

"〜く/に なります" is used to indicate a change from one state to another, which is equivalent to the English words "to be" and "become."

" (わたしは きょうしに なりたい)。" means "I want to become a teacher."


👉<Form>

The conjunction depends on the part of speech that comes before "なります".

・い形容詞(いA)

~い → ~く + なります
暑いです(あついです)⇒ 暑くなります

 

・な形容詞(なA)and Noun

~に + なります
きれいです ⇒ きれいになります
教師です(きょうしです)⇒ 教師になります
