Interrogative words (Question words)⑥ "どうして(dōshite)"
"どうして(dōshite)" is used to ask the reason for something.
e.g.
Q: どうして サッカーが すきですか。
A: たのしいですから。
Q: Dōshite sakkā ga sukidesuka.
A: Tanoshīdesukara.
Q: Why do you like soccer?
A: Because it’s fun.
e.g.
Q: どうして とけいを かいませんでしたか。
A: たかかったですから。
Q: Dōshite tokei o kaimasendeshitaka.
A: Takakattadesukara.
Q: Why didn’t you buy the watch?
A: Because it was expensive.
e.g.
Q: どうして ケーキを つくりますか。
A: あした ともだちのたんじょうびですから。
Q: Dōshite kēki o tsukurimasuka.
A: Ashita tomodachi no tanjōbi desukara.
Q: Why will you make a cake?
A: Because it’s my friend’s birthday tomorrow.
e.g.
Q: どうして としょかんで べんきょうしますか。
A: しずかですから。
Q: Dōshite toshokan de benkyō shimasuka.
A: Shizukadesukara.
Q: Why do you study at the library?
A: Because it’s quiet.
※"から(kara)" is added at the end of the reply sentences.
