In this lesson, you will learn how to use the Japanese grammar N1はN2より いA/なA です.

Your friend made cookies for you. They're better than the ones you buy at the store.
Here’s what you can say in this situation: “このクッキーはお店のクッキーよりおいしいです。(このクッキーは おみせのクッキーよりおいしいです。)"

Today let's learn about "N1はN2より いA/なA です".

"N1はN2より いA/なA です" is used to compare two things, N1 and N2, and the subject N1 is more いA/なA than N2..

N=Noun, いA=いadjective, なA=なadjective

Let’s take a look at the previous example.

In this sentence,“このクッキー”is Noun1 and“お店のクッキー”is Noun2, and the adjective is“おいしい”.

このクッキーはお店のクッキーよりおいしいです。" means "This cookie is tastier than the ones from the store.(This cookie tastes better than the ones from the store.)"

The particle“は”follows the Noun1, and the particle“より”follows the Noun2.
The predicate consists of an いadjective or a なadjective.

Noun1は + Noun2より + いadjective/なadjective + です
